Daytona International Speedway to Honor Seven-Time NASCAR Cup Series Champion Jimmie Johnson Prior to his Final DAYTONA 500 as a Fulltime Driver

UNOH Fanzone Activation, Driver Introductions and Warm-Up Laps to Feature Tributes

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 14, 2020) – As seven-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion and two-time DAYTONA 500 champion Jimmie Johnson prepares to begin his final fulltime season, Daytona International Speedway will pay tribute to his career accomplishments through a variety of ways, including Johnson leading the field at one point during warm-up laps ahead of the 62nd annual DAYTONA 500 (FOX, FOX Deportes, MRN Radio and SiriusXM Radio).

“Jimmie is one of the greatest competitors our sport has ever seen and we look forward to honoring him on Sunday ahead of his final DAYTONA 500 as a fulltime driver,” Daytona International Speedway President Chip Wile said. “His contributions to the sport have been incredible and we’re excited for all the fans in attendance to be a part of this historical moment.”

Located in the UNOH Fanzone throughout the weekend will be a tri-panel kiosk with images showcasing Johnson’s two DAYTONA 500 wins. Additionally, during driver introductions, there will be an extended PA read celebrating Johnson as a seven-time champion.

During the warm-up lap led by Johnson, a tribute video will play on the ISM Vision screen. The video will relive some Johnson’s accomplishments at Daytona International Speedway and will feature a number of thoughts and praise from teammates and other competitors across the NASCAR Cup Series.

Tickets for 62nd Annual DAYTONA 500 Sold Out

Fifth Consecutive Year that ‘The Great American Race’ has Sold Out
Tickets for the 2021 DAYTONA 500 Available Through Pre-Sale

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 13, 2020) – Reserved tickets for the 62nd annual DAYTONA 500, the tradition-rich, prestigious season-opening event for the NASCAR Cup Series, are sold out, Daytona International Speedway President Chip Wile announced today. This is the fifth consecutive year that the DAYTONA 500 has sold out. 

This year’s DAYTONA 500 will be attended by fans representing 48 different countries and every state in the U.S.

“The DAYTONA 500 is one of the greatest events in sports and will unfold in front of a packed house,” Wile said. “We have the most loyal and passionate fans in sports and we are forever grateful for their support. We look forward to another thrilling edition of ‘The Great American Race’ as we kick-off the NASCAR season.”

Tickets for the 63rd annual DAYTONA 500 scheduled for Feb. 14, 2021 are already available for purchase.

It’s the earliest that DAYTONA 500 tickets have been available to the public in event history. Tickets for the 2021 DAYTONA 500 will start at $99 and payment plans are available.
